Ilana Bet-El
Historian, writer, senior strategist
Ilana Bet-El is a senior strategist specializing in political risk, reputation management, public policy, and negotiation. With over twenty years of consultancy experience in Brussels, she’s a former UN peacekeeper and Senior Advisor who has mediated and negotiated intricate international issues and advised on defense, security, trade, and energy matters.
As a historian and writer, Ilana brings a deep appreciation for the cultural and historical forces shaping geopolitical shifts and crises—a perspective that enriches both her work and her teaching. She is an Adjunct Professor at PSIA, Sciences Po Paris, a Senior Visiting Fellow at King’s College Department of War Studies, a Senior Associate Fellow at the European Leadership Network (ELN), and a member of the Advisory Board of Women in International Security (WIIS).
A graduate of Tel Aviv University, Ilana also holds a PhD in history from University College London. She’s a prolific voice in her field, with a wealth of publications and lectures exploring history, memory, conflict, defense, and security.
