Rebecca Harms
Vice Chair at the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom
Rebecca Harms, a German politician, served as a Member of the European Parliament (2004–2019) with Alliance 90/The Greens. Initially a tree nurserywoman and landscape gardener, she became involved in the anti-nuclear movement and later worked in environmental and media projects. Harms was a member of the Lower Saxony Regional Assembly (1994–2004), leading the Greens group from 1998. As co-president of the Greens–European Free Alliance in the European Parliament (2010–2016), she championed climate action, renewable energy, and human rights, with a focus on Eastern Europe. A strong advocate for EU energy security and nuclear safety, she also served on the European Parliament’s Delegation on Ukraine.
