Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta

Art manager and curator of contemporary art

Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta is the Director General of the National Art and Culture Museum Complex “Mystetskyi Arsenal” (Art Arsenal) and a Board member of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and the Health Solutions for Open Society foundation.

Previously, she served on the Boards of the Ukrainian Institute, the East Europe Foundation, the Warm City civic initiative platform, and the CEDOS think tank. She also led the Program Board for Social Capital at the International Renaissance Foundation.

In 2014, Ostrovska-Liuta was Ukraine's First Deputy Minister of Culture and First Deputy to the Head of the National Committee for UNESCO.

She is also a contemporary art curator and writes about culture and policy for both Ukrainian and foreign outlets. Among her recent curatorial projects is The Heart of Earth exhibition at Mystetskyi Arsenal (Kyiv, November 2022 – February 2023).

Her publications include contributions to collective volumes such as Dialogues on War (PEN Ukraine) and State of War: Anthology (Meridian Czernowitz).

Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta has received numerous awards, including Women in Arts (UN Women), Person of the Decade (NV.ua magazine), UP 100 Power of Women (Ukrainska Pravda), and a 51st Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy as a Consulting Producer (Daytime Special, Culture Quest: Ukraine).
